Shri Ram Institute of Hotel Management, Dehradun is proud to announce that the Institute along with the students extended a warm reception to Masterchef India judge, Vikas Khanna. A meet and greet with was organised with the international chef himself.
Having received the Michelin star for 6 consecutive years, Vikas Khanna has become a popular name in not just India, but also abroad. Chef Khanna shared with the students of Shri Ram Institute of Hotel Management, his wisdom, experiences and journey.
In a question-answer session, RIHM students got the opportunity to ask Chef Khanna their questions related to the future of hospitality industry, best ways forward in today’s economic conditions and the love of food.
The chef also reflected upon his own journey, giving RIHM students a rare insight into the life of the star. Chef Khanna shared with the students the decision he had taken in his life – some worked for him, while others didn’t. The most important thing according to the international chef was hope and faith – hope that things will work out and faith in yourself.
Chef Khanna also spoke about his family and how they have been a constant source of strength for him. It was their faith in him, especially his mother’s, that helped him achieve great heights in life.
Chef Khanna also talked about his work in several countries in the world apart from India like Bhutan and the USA, and how one was special and unique in its own ways. What made his journey special was he embraced not only teaching, but also learning from different sources – it was something that gave the chef a singular talent of bringing together an eclectic potluck that cuts across disciplinary boundaries.
Some students of Shri Ram Institute of Hotel Management were also provided with signed copies of Chef Khanna’s latest book Young Chefs.
Vikas Khanna was a source of inspiration to the students of Shri Ram Institute of Hotel Management and a guiding force for their future to many of them. The visionary leadership and revolutionary ingenuity of Chef Khanna is what he is known for and what he imparted to RIHM students.
